Business Development Director

As the Director of Business Development at ICEO, you’ll be responsible for building the group’s business development function and leveraging strategic partnerships as a growth lever for startups in our portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Growth, you will hire and lead a high-performing team of sales and business development professionals who will be working across our portfolio companies. This role is pivotal in shaping the business development strategies of our startups, fostering key relationships, and ultimately contributing to the expansion of the ICEO Group. What you will work on:
- Build a robust business development function within the ICEO Group and further scale it to fit the needs of the products in our portfolio
- Work closely with the startup CEOs and the VP of Growth to identify how products in our portfolio can use business development and strategic partnerships as a growth lever
- Co-create and oversee the implementation of business development and sales strategies tailored to each portfolio company’s unique needs
- Constantly analyze the business development and sales management needs and identify opportunities for future growth and optimization
- Hire top-tier business developers and sales professionals and smoothly onboard them in the growth teams of the startups in our portfolio
- Coach and mentor your team by conducting weekly 1:1s, developing conversations, and defining clear career paths for growth. Set ambitious KPIs to measure success and track progress towards goals
- Leverage the connections in your network and consistently expand it to build strong relationships with strategic partners and key players in the industry
- Work directly with the CEOs and Heads of Growth of startups in our portfolio to design and build business development teams fit for scale and scope
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment on goals, processes and key metrics.
What we expect from you:
- Business development/sales experience. You have more than 5 years of experience in business development or sales leadership roles, preferably in fintech with a proven track record of driving growth through strategic partnerships/business development
- Team leadership. You have previously built and led business development functions that delivered results in dynamic environments
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills. You have an innate ability to build relations with strategic partners and key industry leaders while influencing stakeholders at different levels in the organization
- Bias to action. You own your initiatives end-to-end and you are a self-starter who doesn’t postpone for tomorrow what can be done today
- Hands-on execution. While you have the ability to craft bold strategies for the business, you are the type of hands-on leader capable to execute
- Negotiation skills. You are a strong negotiator, having closed strategic partnerships in your previous roles
- Strong analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving
- Resilience through change. You thrive in ambiguity have an unparalleled can-do attitude and focus on results. You instill confidence in your team and can keep it focused on results as you are operating through uncertainty.
